Galina (Gelya) Demyanovna Pisareva is Russian sculptor, painter, graphic artist. Gelya Pisareva was born in Leningrad in 1933. She graduated from the Leningrad Art School (now the St. Petersburg Art School named after Nicholas Roerich) in 1955.

In 1961 Gelya graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya Yefimovich Repin, faculty of sculpture (now St. Petersburg Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, named after Ilya Yefimovich Repin, informally known as the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts,).

She is an active participant of art exhibitions, art fairs and symposiums since 1961. A member of the Union of Artists since 1967. Since 1990, a member of the independent non-profit Artistic association «Ozerki − Artists' Village».

The women and their daily cares are the main characters of her sculptures and paintings. She depicts them washing clothes, carrying water, chopping wood, taking care of the children, tilling the land, gathering the harvest. Her canvases reveal the lyricism of rural life and show something absolutely unfamiliar to an urban dweller but which is at the same time so close to everyone as a kind of historical memory that returns us to the idyllic Russian village.
