Pavel Shevchenko

Pavel Shevchenko was born in 1954 in Ust Silayka village, Perm region. In 1979 graduated from St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Repin, sculpture studio of Professor Anikushin. He lives and works in St. Petersburg. Member of the Union of Artists since 1982. He teaches at the St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Repin as a professor.

In 1991, he participated in the creation of a monument dedicated to the crew of the submarine «Komsomolets» in Zapadnaya Litsa Murmansk region (bronze and granite, in conjunction with the Alipova, architect. Choban). His main practice is small plastic forms.

Many working in the field of small plastic. Since 1983 he developing a new sculptural techniques, including bronze alloy, stainless steel and glass. Works performing this technique are: «Nature», «Fallen Angel», «The Last Dream» and «Venus. The first red star, which appears at sunset, when the trees go to sleep» (1996, bronze, glass). Model of the monument to the Kronstadt rebellion (1992, bronze, glass) can also be classified as same technical decision.

In 2004, the statue «Hircus facultatis» was installed (bronze, granite) in the park of contemporary sculpture at St. Petersburg State University.
